A convicted serial killer in Sweden has withdrawn his confessions for eight murders and his lawyer says he will seek a retrial in each case. Thomas Quick was convicted of murdering five people between 1976 and 1988, including a Dutch couple and an Israeli tourist. He was also found guilty of three murders in Norway. Quick was found mentally ill and sentenced to psychiatric care in the early 1990s. In an interview with Swedish broadcaster SVT on Sunday, Quick said he was innocent and had been heavily influenced by tranquilizers at the time of the confessions. His lawyer Thomas Olsson said he would seek a retrial for every conviction. Prosecutor Christer van der Kwast, who handled the case, did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
